In each session, there will be 6-15 children working with a cheetah guide. This will allow the needs of each child to be met. Our cheetah guides are former or current teachers who love working with kids and believe in the powerful impact of exercise on children.
Each session will begin with a mindfulness activity. This time allows the children to relax, get focused and be ready for their next challenge. A calm mind helps the children stay positive, balance their emotions, helps them be productive, and alleviates anxiety.
The children will set a goal for the session. Goals are great motivators and gives the children a purpose for their running activity. When children set a goal, this helps them focus and it increases their confidence in themselves and their abilities.
After stretching, the children are ready to run. The children will learn the basics of running and building stamina through a variety of running activities. A variety of activities will keep the children engaged while focusing on their goal.
After the running activity, the children will stretch and cool down. Stretching will prevent the muscles from getting sore and it relaxes the muscles. During the stretching, the children will reflect on how they did during the session.
Our cheetah guides have been screened for a background check and fingerprints. The background check allows us to see a person's criminal record, education, and past employment. This reassures us that the children are in safe hands during the Cheetah Program.
Our cheetah guides have completed DCFS Mandated Reporter Training and are mandated reporters. They are trained to report any observed or suspected abuse. This ensures safety for the children and prevents abuse.
Our cheetah guides have completed a research based curriculum training that aligns with the Illinois State Physical Education Goals and Social Emotional Learning Standards for Illinois. They are skilled in mindfulness and behavior management as a positive approach to learning.
Our cheetah guides have an Education degree and experience in working with children in schools. They believe in the importance of exercise to benefit the well-being of a child. They are trained in mindfulness and de-escalation techniques that nurture the whole child. They enjoy working with children and are committed to providing a positive learning experience.
Our cheetah guides are professional and prompt. They are prepared to provide the children with a positive and rewarding learning experience. They are motivated and committed to improving the mental, physical, and emotional health of children. They are invested in the future of all children.
